Our adventure begins on the banks of the Bull River at the Bull River marina on Highway 80 between downtown Savannah and Tybee Island. You'll review basic kayaking techniques and safety instructions before departing. Once everyone is familiar with the kayaks and equipment, we'll embark on a adventure into the Bull RiverÂs unique system of tidal tributaries.
Along the way, exercise your imagination with tantalizing tales of local traditions, first hand accounts from the sea, and historical events. Learn about the rise and fall of the areaÂs traditional shrimping fleets, imagine the sights and sounds of civil war battles unfolding in the distance, and savor the tasty tale of blue crabs -- from the crab trap to your plate.
Paddling through watery trails known as tidal creeks, weÂll weave around and through this biologically diverse ecosystem in search of a wide variety of birds, mammals, and sea life that consider the salt marsh home. Animals you may encounter include the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin, Osprey, River Otter, shrimp, rays, blue crabs, fiddler crabs, and Bald Eagle
